The field of aesthetic medicine is expanding rapidly, as is the likelihood of patients presenting with adverse events in the primary care and emergency department settings due to aesthetic procedures. This session will provide insight into common complications providers may encounter. Rapid recognition and treatment are imperative to preserving the integrity and function of tissue.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to:
- Assess adverse events associated with common aesthetic medicine procedures including neurotoxin injections and dermal filler injections
- Examine the evaluation process for dermal filler-associated vascular occlusions to expedite facilitation of care
- Discuss strategies for improving confidence and competence of PAs in identifying adverse events associated with common aesthetic medicine procedures
- Appraise the stigma associated with adverse events resultant of common aesthetic medicine procedures
- Identify quality resources to increase knowledge of common aesthetic medicine procedures and practices
